Ezra Klein

Lex Fridman × Ezra Klein × Derek Thompson

Klein and Thompson argue America’s binding economic problem has shifted from inadequate demand to manufactured scarcity, with housing, clean energy, infrastructure, health care, and scientific capacity constrained by authorization-to-execution failures.Housing is the load-bearing asset class because scarcity raises living costs, blocks labor mobility, and closes access to productive clusters, while DOGE and tariff volatility test whether government can build capacity without weakening feedback loops or raising homebuilding costs.
